What UBC REC Awards are all about
Introduction
The Legacy Games are an ongoing tradition at UBC. As the Games come to a close, we honour the
winning teams and individuals from the Divisional Programs.
Honourees will receive a certificate in recognition of the individual and team achievements, and as champions,
they will automatically be inducted into UBC REC Hall of Fame. A plaque will also be displayed
on the second floor of the Student Recreation Centre. This plaque will forever recognize and commemorate
selected champions of the UBC Intramural Events.
Hall of Fame
To qualify as a UBC REC champion and be eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame as well as
recognition on UBC REC website:
- the winning team or individual has participated in the Divisional
competing for an approved Unit (a faculty, residence or Greek society)
- the winning team or individual has won the highest level of play in the competition
- there was a minimum of five participants or teams competing at that level
In league sports, the inductee will be determined from the results of the championship at the highest
level of play in a particular sport. Usually, the highest level is Elite. (formerly called Super League)
Where there are two tournaments in one year in the same sport (for example table tennis, badminton and
softball) the inductee into the Hall of Fame will be determined from the results of competition in the
last tournament of its kind in the year.
Following each event, the champions will receive an invitation to the ceremony. Contact UBC
Intramurals for more information.

come from the same unit of constituency.

Similar to the Triple Crown, the Little Triple Crown is awarded to the unit whose teams win their division

Grand Slam
The Corec Grand Slam includes four events: the Gladiator Challenge, Urban Challenge, Water Wars and Ice Wars.
If one unit can win the Championship Finals in all four events, it is accorded Grand Slam Honours.
Only units from the divisional category of play are eligible for the award, and the teams competing in the
events must not enlist more than the allotted number of designated imports.
A banner recognizing the accomplishment of the Unit will be hung in the Student Recreation Centre.

Championship Pennants
At the end of each UBC REC, penannts are made for each of the units in the Divisional, AMS and Campus
Wide categories of play. These pennants are mounted for display in a prominent location within the unit
or consitutency. Championship teams and indivdiuals are drawn from all tiers and levels of play.
On the website, these pennants are gradually filled out as the season progresses.

Earl Awards
There are thousands of students who annually participate in UBC REC. The Earl Awards have been introduced to recognize their involvement
in the program. Participants are awarded both participation points for
taking part in an activity and, depending how well they do in the program,
competition points are also awarded. At the end of the year, these points
are added up and the top individual will be awarded the following Earl
Awards.
